Spice It Up – with Cinnamon!

Research has shown that cinnamon may help to lower blood sugar and cholesterol , and two recent studies suggest other benefits for the heart and brain. In one, animals given cinnamon along with a high fat diet gained less weight and belly fat, and had better blood sugar and insulin levels, than animals who ate the same diet but did not consume cinnamon. In another study, cinnamon boosted the learning abilities of mice. Additional research on humans is needed to confirm these results, and to determine how much cinnamon might confer these benefits.
